01 / Why the beauty industry is part of the problem:

Plastic, plastic, and even more plastic - probably you have heard about the plastic crisis a million times, but let’s review it one more time, considering an important player - the beauty and cosmetic industry. Feeling overwhelmed by beauty and skincare brands nowadays is so common, leaving especially the new customers feeling confused by marketing strategies, big results claims, and especially environmentalism.

Ever wondered how much of your daily beauty products are wrapped up in plastic? If you are brutally honest, the answer will be probably 99% percent. But what does the statistic say? According to the British Organisation Zero Waste Week, around 120 billion pieces of cosmetic packaging are produced globally every year, which results in the loss of 72, 843, 415, 603 square meters of forest annually.

02 / Profit over packaging:

Another big issue with beauty packaging is simply the fact that a lot of times, it is extremely difficult to recycle. For example, when you finish your favorite foundation or primer, packed most of the time in non-transparent plastic containers, many find it difficult to squeeze all of the remaining product out of the container before washing it and putting it in the yellow bin.

This is one of the many reasons why beauty packaging is one of the most challenging types of packaging to recycle. Excessive influencer marketing strategies keep sending excessive amounts of products wrapped in kilograms of plastic and other materials to make them look good for the public, but a few are questioning what this costs to the environment. And while some companies like Fenty Skin have offered refillers to reduce waste since the launch of the company, thousands of other brands still have a lot of way to go.

03 / What we do different:

In hazeva, we are committed to not only taking care of you but also taking care of our amazing Planet. We have invested in packaging which is almost 100 % plastic-free, and we deliver our products in recycled paper, glass, and metal packaging instead. We are adamant to pave the way for zero-waste beauty products, and while most of our products already produce zero-waste, we are working on and researching to replace everything which doesn't come under this label in the nearest future.
